Prostate Cancer Center of New Jersey Begins Treating Patients

(West Orange, NJ) – The grand opening of the Prostate Cancer Center of New Jersey (375 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Suite 251 West Orange, New Jersey) was held January 27, 2010. The Center, exclusive to patients of the Urology Group of New Jersey, offers state-of-the-art, prostate-specific radiation treatment for patients diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The Center treats prostate cancer patients with Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT) using its Linear Accelerator, complete with image guiding capability (IGRT). IMRT/IGRT is a technology that allows doctors to tailor each treatment to individual patients by using a computer to determine the best way to deliver each radiation beam by varying, or “modulating," thus effectively minimizing unnecessary radiation exposure and damage to healthy tissue.

“The new Prostate Cancer Center enables us to offer our patients a complete range of the most advanced treatment options in a comfortable, medical office setting,” said UGNJ President Eric Seaman, MD. “We are also now able to deliver a more integrated approach to cancer care by our experts in urologic oncology and radiation oncology.”
